Our Story

The Victoria Project (TVP) was founded in September 2020 by three friends and mothers to raise awareness and increase access to home birth and holistic maternity care in Southern California and beyond.

Janelle Green

Co-Founder

Janelle is a former certified nurse-midwife and pediatric intensive care nurse. She began advocating for increased access to midwives to improve maternal-child health outcomes in 2003.

Later, she was inspired to develop a payment program specifically for midwifery care, which is often excluded from traditional health insurance plans, thus creating a barrier to access.

Janelle believes in the vital importance of preserving and sharing the knowledge of traditional birth keepers. She hopes that TVP will contribute to a cultural shift by offering true choices in maternity care that support the wellbeing of families and practitioners alike.
