our birth story

The Victoria Project (TVP) was founded in September 2020 by three friends and mothers to raise awareness and increase access to holistic maternity care in Southern California and beyond.

our founders

Janelle Green

Janelle believes that access to midwifery care is an important and overlooked solution to improving maternal health outcomes in America. She was inspired to co-found TVP in an effort to advance that goal. To Janelle, The Victoria Project is one step forward towards divorcing motherhood from martyrdom. She believes that the entire family thrives when parents are well nourished and have a supportive community around them.

Janelle’s dream is that her three daughters will inherit a world where women’s bodies are revered and respected. A world where parents are empowered through the transformative journey of creating new life, beginning with birth.

Haize Hawke

Haize is an advanced senior midwife student, assistant midwife, master doula, and spiritual mentor. She supports families in their journey to and through birth with a holistic, spiritual, and emotionally centered approach. She sees and supports the Divine in everyone and uses her many creative gifts to fortify those beliefs in others.

Haize believes that pregnancy is a spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical journey. She co-founded TVP so that more families can have access to the type of care that reflects this process and sets them up for a successful birth and parenting experience.

Deja Rabb

A self-described “unlikely” home birth convert, Deja is now a staunch advocate. After two empowering births at home, she was ready to tell everyone she met about her experiences. However, she found that many people were uninformed about the benefits and safety of home birth and most did not share her enthusiasm.

Deja co-founded TVP to raise awareness about home birth and what she believes is often a misunderstood option for safely and lovingly bringing children into the world. She also hopes that TVP will be part of the solution to improve birth outcomes for women of marginalized communities and beyond.
